Following your feedback, Bedford Borough Parent Carer Forum has funded these workshops and is working with different Organisations to deliver them to parent carers in Bedford Borough.

Sensory Processing and Sleep

This workshop will look at strategies to help your child with sensory differences sleep better and understand sensory processing around sleep.

Supporting and Empowering the Anxious Child

Delivered by: The Contented Child

This workshop will introduce you to the current thinking around children's anxiety and move on to exploring ways to support young people to manage their anxiety with realistic support.

Co-sleeping with your SEND child

Delivered by Nickie Sutton

Nickie Sutton, specialist sleep practitioner, and trainer will be hosting this workshop where we look at how SEND affects sleep and practical strategies to help.

Accessing the Public Services Toolkit

Delivered by: Cerebra

This workshop is run by Cerebra which is a charity dedicated to helping families with children with brain conditions discover a better life together. IPSEA Training (In-Person) at Project 229 in Kempston

Fully Funded by: Bedford Borough Parent Carer Forum (BBPCF)

This training covers the law on Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Limited spaces are available so please ensure you book early.

These ten-minute bookable slots provided parent carers with an opportunity to meet with professionals and service providers to discuss their cases. You must email to book.

Transitions Information Session (Not Bookable)

At Project 229 In Kempston

Please note that for this specific session, there's no need to book. We have invited practitioners from various areas to speak to you about transitions and what they entail. There will be time for a Q&A session afterward so please come prepared.

We will have professionals from all areas including; the Early Years Team, Adult services, School Transitions, Health Transitions, and Health.

STRONGER BEGINNINGS DROP-IN SESSIONS

At the Child Development Centre (CDC) in Kempston, 10:00 am -12:00 pm

These are drop-in sessions hosted by Bedford Borough Parent Carer Forum which aim to strongly signpost families that are just starting in the complex world of SEND or those who have some concerns about their child's development. You can expect a lot of resources, a hot spot to research anything and some SEND practitioners to help answer any questions you have. There’s no need to book.

Bedford Borough Parent Carer Forum in co-production with Bedford Borough Council and Partners hosts focus groups to help improve outcomes for SEND families.

 

To participate in any one of the focus groups, the following must apply.

  • You must live in Bedford Borough or use Bedford Borough Services including schools and Health.

  • You must currently be experiencing or using the services stated in the focus group.

  • You must be a Bedford Borough Parent Carer Forum (BBPCF) member. (visit our contact page to register
